A roundtable dedicated to the development of Turkmen-Georgian relations and the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence was held April 24, 2026, at Sukhumi State University. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The meeting brought together scholars from Turkmenistan, as well as faculty members and students of the university. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in political, economic, scientific, educational, and cultural fields, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

Rector Teya Jugheli highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations and stressed the importance of academic cooperation in strengthening partnerships between universities in the two countries.

Turkmen Ambassador to Georgia Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov noted the positive dynamics of Turkmen-Georgian relations, which cover a wide range of areas, including active political dialogue and high-level contacts.

Participants also discussed the transit potential of both countries, emphasizing that their strategic geographic location creates opportunities to develop transport corridors between Asia and Europe. Special attention was given to historical, cultural, and economic aspects of bilateral engagement.
