President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree to award financial payments and valuable gifts to veterans of the Great Patriotic War on behalf of the head of state, official Turkmen media reported Monday.
The decision was adopted in recognition of the heroism of war veterans, the dedication of elderly mothers who worked on the home front during the war years, as well as their role in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, courage and unity, and their contribution to the country’s ongoing reforms.
Local administrations at the welaýat, city and etrap levels have been instructed to present the financial awards and gifts to veterans in a ceremonial setting marking the 81st anniversary of Victory.
Nationwide cultural and public events will also be held to commemorate the anniversary, honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who contributed to the Victory.
