Türkmennebit and Petronas Plan to Sign Protocol on Commercial Terms

A Protocol on Commercial Terms between the State Concern Türkmennebit and Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. is expected to be signed during the current visit of the Malaysian delegation to Turkmenistan. The announcement was made during Monday’s meeting between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and representatives of Malaysia.

According to Turkmenistan’s official media, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Political Affairs to the Prime Minister of Malaysia Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petronas Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, and Petronas Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, CEO of Upstream Business, Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab.

During the meeting, the head of state expressed confidence that the negotiations and meetings to be held during the visit would become an important stage in defining the directions of bilateral cooperation and implementing concrete measures.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Petronas. Over this period, the Malaysian company has participated in hydrocarbon production projects and the development of Turkmenistan’s sector of the Caspian Sea, while also contributing to the training of highly qualified specialists for the country’s oil and gas industry.

The Malaysian representatives congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Petronas. They highlighted the productive nature of Turkmen-Malaysian relations and reaffirmed Petronas’ commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the partnership.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the warm remarks and reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to its longstanding mutually beneficial relations with Malaysia, noting the country’s readiness to consider specific proposals in areas of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Malaysian representatives exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence that productive cooperation would continue to develop for the benefit of the friendly peoples of the two countries.
