Turkmenistan Modernizes Artyk and Garabogaz Customs Posts
Garabogaz Customs Post, Balkan Region, Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan has completed a large-scale modernization of two customs posts — Artyk and Garabogaz, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.

Both posts were reconstructed in full compliance with international standards. During the works, the total area of the facilities was expanded, their processing capacity was increased, and new social and technical buildings were constructed, while existing structures underwent major renovation.

The modernized posts are equipped with advanced inspection systems. The widespread introduction of digital technologies has ensured conditions for efficient and reliable control of vehicles and goods at the state border. All customs procedures for road transport are now conducted in electronic format, significantly reducing clearance times.

According to analysis conducted by a relevant international organization, Turkmenistan ranks first among Central Asian countries in terms of the speed of customs procedures.

The Artyk and Garabogaz customs posts play an important role in the country’s foreign trade turnover system and transit cargo transportation. The modernization is intended to accelerate the movement of road freight across the country along international transport corridors and increase the capacity of multimodal routes.
