Consumer goods production in Ashgabat is expected to reach $2 billion in 2026, Ashgabat Mayor Rahym Gandymov said at the international conference “White City Ashgabat” on Sunday in Ashgabat.

According to projections, food products will account for 45% of total production, or $900 million. Non-food products will make up 55%, or about $1.1 billion. Total retail trade turnover across all sectors is expected to reach $30 billion.

Gandymov said the national private sector plays an important role in modernizing the urban economy while actively developing alongside international partners. Interest from foreign financial institutions and business representatives, according to the mayor, confirms a high level of confidence in Turkmenistan’s investment policy.

The capital also continues to modernize key industrial sectors technologically. Modern digital solutions and high-performance equipment are being introduced in the electric power industry, light and food industries, metalworking, and the production of construction materials, the mayor said.
