Turkmenistan is celebrating Eid al-Adha, one of the main national holidays of the Turkmen people, with festivities taking place in the capital, Ashgabat, and across all regions of the country.

According to Turkmenistan’s official media, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the Turkmen people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, describing the holiday as a symbol of humanism, friendship and peace that reflects the spiritual and moral values of the nation, as well as unity, mutual respect and social harmony.

The head of state expressed hope that prayers, charitable sacrifices and wishes offered during the holiday would contribute to the unity and prosperity of the Turkmen people, as well as the continued development and sovereignty of the country.

Concerts, cultural celebrations and public festivities are being held throughout the country during the holiday period. Families are traditionally preparing festive meals and hosting kurbanlyk-sadaka gatherings, while prayers are being offered for peace, well-being and prosperity.

Earlier, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree declaring May 27, 28 and 29 as official days of celebration for the national holiday of Eid al-Adha.
