Turkmenistan Signs Resolutions on Environmental Protection and Tobacco Control

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a number of resolutions related to environmental protection and the healthcare system at a regular Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, state media reported.

According to the document signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in order to strengthen the legal foundations of state policy in the field of environmental protection in the era of the Renaissance of the New Epoch of a Powerful State, define the main directions of work to mitigate the impact of climate change, enhance the resilience of ecosystems and forestry to these processes, as well as ensure the successful implementation of the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change, the National Forestry Program of Turkmenistan for 2026–2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation were approved.

The President of Turkmenistan also signed a resolution aimed at strengthening the spiritual and physical health of the population, combating tobacco use, significantly improving public health and welfare, increasing life expectancy, and implementing effective and comprehensive measures in this area.

According to the document, the National Program to Transform Turkmenistan into a Tobacco-Free Country for 2026–2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation were approved.

In addition, ministries, sectoral agencies, and the administrations of the velayats, as well as the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, have been instructed to ensure implementation of the measures outlined in the programs.
