Turkmenistan and Georgia Discuss Expansion of Trade and Economic Cooperation

Turkmenistan and Georgia confirmed their interest in further strengthening trade and economic ties following a meeting held on Tuesday between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Tea Ioseliani. The meeting was also attended by Director General of JSC “Georgian Railway” Lasha Abashidze, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The sides reviewed a range of current issues in bilateral economic cooperation, including prospects for increasing trade turnover, attracting investment, and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Participants noted the positive dynamics of Turkmen-Georgian relations and underlined significant potential for further development of contacts between business communities of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to creating favorable conditions for the implementation of joint projects, strengthening direct interaction between relevant agencies and business circles, as well as improving the legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

At the end of the talks, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue a constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening economic ties and promoting mutually beneficial initiatives.

Earlier, on May 8, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met in Ashgabat with Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili. On the same day, the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held, where the sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral trade and economic relations.
