President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed two decrees during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, authorizing the state concerns Turkmengas and Turkmennebit to conclude contracts with Chinese companies to purchase pipe products, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
Under the decrees, Turkmengas is authorized to sign a contract with China’s Julong Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. for the supply of steel pipes needed for construction work carried out by its subordinate enterprises. Turkmennebit is authorized to conclude a contract with China’s Wuxi SP Steel Tube Manufacturing Co., Ltd. for the purchase of casing and drill pipes for use in drilling operations at production and exploration wells.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Guvanch Agajanov reported on work in the oil and gas sector, including measures to increase natural gas output, ensure stable domestic supply and develop hydrocarbon fields.
After the report, President Berdimuhamedov noted Turkmenistan is carrying out systematic efforts to modernize the oil and gas industry. He signed the relevant documents and instructed the deputy prime minister to continue work in the sector.
The Cabinet meeting also reviewed several other state issues and adopted corresponding decisions.
