Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received vice president of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Kenji Sanada, who is visiting the country, the Turkmen state media reported on Monday.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sanada thanked Berdimuhamedov for receiving him and conveyed birthday greetings to National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. He also congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader on the third anniversary of the founding of Arkadag city.

Berdimuhamedov thanked Sanada for his remarks and said relations between Turkmenistan and Japan have a long-term strategic character. He highlighted the contribution of Japanese companies to major projects in the country's gas and chemical industries and expressed confidence that cooperation with Kawasaki Heavy Industries would continue to expand.

At the end of the meeting, Sanada noted the company had completed several joint projects in Turkmenistan, including a gas-to-gasoline plant in Ahal province and a urea plant in Mary province. He reaffirmed Kawasaki Heavy Industries' commitment to fulfilling its contractual obligations to a high standard.

Among the flagship projects involving Turkmengaz and Kawasaki Heavy Industries is the world's first commercial gas-to-gasoline plant, which produces environmentally friendly gasoline from natural gas and was commissioned in Ahal province on June 28, 2019. Another major project is the Mary Urea Plant, developed by the state concern Turkmenhimiya in cooperation with Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd., which entered operation in October 2014.
