Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov during the minister's visit to Turkmenistan, Turkmen state media reported on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Jabbarov thanked Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome extended to the Azerbaijani delegation and conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He said regular high-level dialogue played a key role in strengthening bilateral relations and noted that Berdimuhamedov's recent state visit to Azerbaijan had opened a new chapter in cooperation between the two countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov asked Jabbarov to convey his best wishes to Aliyev and said the visit would contribute to expanding bilateral trade and economic ties. He added that the upcoming meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation would help implement previously reached agreements.
As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan places great importance on expanding multifaceted cooperation with Azerbaijan. Political dialogue continues to strengthen, trade and economic ties are expanding and major joint projects are being implemented successfully. They also highlighted the importance of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan later this year, as a platform for promoting regional cooperation.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to broadening cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, logistics, science and technology, energy and the development of international transport and transit corridors. They also underscored the significance of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which Turkmenistan is set to host later this year, as a platform for strengthening regional cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov expressed confidence that the long-standing friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan would continue to develop across a wide range of areas and exchanged best wishes for the prosperity of both nations.
