Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday received the United Nations' new Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Xiaojun Grace Wang, who presented her credentials to the head of state, according to Turkmenistan's official media.

The diplomat conveyed greetings and best wishes from U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noting that she considers it a great honor to represent the organization in Turkmenistan.

The head of state congratulated Xiaojun Grace Wang on her appointment and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, describing this cooperation as one of the priorities of the country's foreign policy based on its status of permanent neutrality.

The sides discussed the implementation of the 2026–2030 U.N. Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations, as well as the work of the Turkmenistan–U.N. Strategic Advisory Board. Particular attention was paid to energy security, transport and transit corridors, environmental protection and efforts to combat climate change.

The President recalled the Third U.N. Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in Turkmenistan last year, as well as events dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust in 2025 and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

In his letter of appointment, Guterres said Wang would assume overall responsibility for coordinating the U.N.'s development operations in Turkmenistan and would serve as the highest-ranking representative of the organization's development system in the country.

On the same day, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Xiaojun Grace Wang and discussed the current state of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, including the implementation of the 2026–2030 cooperation framework.
