Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met on Wednesday with Kristin Hawkins, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the United States of America in Turkmenistan, to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides reviewed current areas of cooperation, including political and diplomatic dialogue, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States.
Hawkins was appointed U.S. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim to Turkmenistan in July, succeeding U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood, who completed her diplomatic mission in the country.
