Turkmenistan, WTO Discuss Further Steps Toward Accession

Turkmenistan and the World Trade Organization (WTO) discussed further cooperation as part of the country’s accession process to the organization, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva reported.

The talks were held on July 27 at the WTO headquarters in Geneva. The meeting was attended by WTO Deputy Director-General Zhang Xiangchen and Director of the WTO Accessions Division Maika Oshikawa. The sides reviewed the current state of cooperation and prospects for further engagement.

The main focus of the discussions was the preparation of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Trade Regime Memorandum, as well as other organizational issues related to the country’s accession process to the WTO.

Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and continuing joint efforts toward Turkmenistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
