Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover increased by 9% in January-July 2026 compared with the same period last year, while retail trade grew by 10.1% during the same period, official media reported following a Cabinet of Ministers meeting held Saturday to review the country’s economic performance over the first seven months of the year.
According to a report presented by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, Turkmenistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.3% in January-July. Growth in key sectors included 2.6% in industry, 6.7% in construction, 10.3% in the transport and communications sector, 8.5% in trade, 4.1% in agriculture and 8.4% in services.
Overall industrial output increased by 10.4% compared with the same period in 2025. The revenue side of the state budget was fulfilled at 101.1%, while expenditures stood at 97.3%.
Accroding to the report, salaries, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships at budget-funded institutions and self-financed organizations were paid on time and in full. Capital investment financed from all sources increased by 4.7% year-on-year.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, summarizing the report, stressed the importance of further improving the economic, financial and banking sectors, maintaining stable GDP growth and developing key areas of the economy. He gave relevant instructions to the deputy prime minister.
