A delegation from Afghanistan’s trade and industry sector held an official working visit to Ashgabat and discussed issues related to developing economic cooperation, expanding trade relations and increasing joint investments between the two countries, Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment reported on Wednesday.
The Afghan delegation included members of the leadership boards of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, as well as businesspeople and industrialists. During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, entrepreneurs and industrialists.

During the talks, the sides exchanged views on developing economic and trade relations, increasing trade turnover, facilitating trade procedures, expanding cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries and creating new investment opportunities. The sides emphasized the importance of further developing economic and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
According to the report, Turkmenistan is one of Afghanistan’s important economic partners, particularly for Herat province. The geographical proximity of the two countries, the Torghundi port, the Torghundi-Herat railway line and major regional projects such as TAPI create broad opportunities for developing economic and transit cooperation.
