A Turkmen-Chinese meeting dedicated to deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector was held at the “Archabil” Hotel in Ashgabat. The event was organized as part of the visit to Turkmenistan by a delegation led by Erkin Tunyaz, Chairman of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, Turkmen state media reported on Monday.

Representatives of the Turkmen side included heads of relevant institutions and enterprises in the country’s agricultural sector. The Chinese side was represented by the heads of agricultural institutions of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, scientists from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as the heads of leading companies operating in agricultural machinery manufacturing, seed production and agrotechnologies.

During the talks, issues related to the introduction of innovations and digitalization in the agricultural sector, cotton and raw material processing, seed production, environmental protection and water conservation were discussed.

Representatives of the Chinese business delegation expressed interest in implementing joint investment and technological projects in the Turkmen market, as well as supplying modern agricultural machinery and equipment.

Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to implement the agreements reached and to continue regular mutual visits by specialists and experts in the agricultural sector of the two countries.

That same day, the Chinese delegation also met with Tangryguly Atahallyyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The sides summed up the results of the sectoral consultations and confirmed their readiness to bring interregional cooperation in the agricultural sector and technical services to a higher level.
