Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States Esen Aydogdyyev has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Canada concurrently, Turkmen state media reported.
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant decree on Aug. 30, 2026.
Aydogdyyev was appointed Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States in 2026. On May 21, he presented his credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
Before being appointed Ambassador to the United States, Aydogdyyev served as Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Bulgaria. He was relieved of these posts on March 6, 2026, due to his transfer to another position.
