A five-month-old Friesian foal was gifted to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, during an international championship in equestrian sports held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, according to the Business Turkmenistan representative at the event.
The Friesian foal was presented to the National Leader of the Turkmen people on behalf of Marko Zeekaf, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Peelbergen Equestrian Sports Complex, as a symbol of deep respect, friendship and gratitude.
According to Marko Zeekaf, the Friesian horse is a symbol of strength, elegance and friendship and is one of the Netherlands’ most famous and oldest horse breeds. The breed is known worldwide for its noble character, strength and beautiful appearance. For centuries, the Friesian horse has been a distinctive symbol of the rich equestrian traditions and heritage of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The events being held in Kronenberg, the Netherlands, are organized to mark 2026, the Year of “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — Homeland of purposeful winged horses. ” As part of the extensive program of events, beauty and dressage competitions featuring Akhal-Teke horses of different ages, show jumping, a scientific and practical conference, international exhibitions, demonstrations by the Galkynysh National Equestrian Games Group and cultural events are being held.
