Representatives of Turkmenistan’s youth participated in the RCOY Central Asia 2026 regional youth conference on climate change, water and sustainable development, held Sept. 4-6 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
About 100 young environmental activists and experts from Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Türkiye took part in the conference. Participants discussed climate policy and governance, the sustainable use of water resources, glacier melting and desertification, the Uzbek government portal reported.
A Regional Youth Statement was presented during the event and will be submitted to representatives of government agencies, the United Nations and partner organizations.
According to the RCOY Central Asia 2026 social media page, Turkmen organizations Mumkinchilik Dunyasi and Youth Climate Network Turkmenistan were among the co-organizers of the conference.
