The Secretariat of the C5+1 multilateral cooperation format, which brings together the Central Asian states and the United States, held its regular meeting in Ashgabat on Sept. 9, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The participants discussed further development of the C5+1 format, as well as practical aspects of cooperation on priority issues on the regional agenda. They emphasized the importance of regular engagement within the C5+1 format in advancing regional cooperation and joint initiatives. They also exchanged views on preparations for upcoming meetings and events and discussed related organizational matters.
The participants reviewed progress in implementing agreements reached earlier and discussed proposals for further developing the agenda of multilateral cooperation. They also considered opportunities to expand cooperation in critical minerals, trade and transport.
A separate part of the meeting focused on developing practical cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the United States, including strengthening ties among relevant government agencies and expert groups.
The meeting concluded with the identification of next steps to continue the work of the Secretariat and prepare for planned activities within the C5+1 format.
