Trade turnover between Baku International Sea Trade Port and the ports of Turkmenistan increased by 34.6% in the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary figures, Azerbaijani news agency AZERTAC reported, citing Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
With organizational support from Baku International Sea Trade Port, which is owned by Azerbaijan Railways, a meeting was held as part of the Conference of Heads of Ports of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The meeting brought together the management of the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, Poti and Batumi.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation to make the Caspian and Black Sea basin a more efficient, reliable and competitive transport and logistics space.
Participants discussed the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, stronger coordination among regional ports, faster and more predictable organization of cargo flows, and opportunities for joint cooperation. They also exchanged views on jointly addressing challenges facing ports and developing regional cooperation on a more institutional and sustainable basis.
According to preliminary figures, trade turnover between Baku Port and the ports of Kazakhstan increased by 6% in the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year.
