A three-day training session was held in Ashgabat from Sept. 16-18 as part of the Ready4Trade Central Asia: Prosperity Through the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor project. During the training, specialists from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan studied the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data analytics for risk management in customs operations, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan reported.
More than 30 specialists from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in the training. They studied modern methods for analyzing and assessing risks based on information processed before cargo reaches its destination and post-clearance customs control.
During the practical part of the training, participants analyzed declarations and transport documents, compared information on cargo, routes, shippers and consignees, identified risk criteria and made decisions on the need for additional controls.
Improving risk-based customs controls is one of the key areas aimed at facilitating cross-border trade along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. Developing modern tools for data analysis and exchange helps improve the movement of goods and strengthen cooperation among countries in the region.
The Ready4Trade Central Asia project is a four-year initiative being implemented in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It is aimed at improving the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, simplifying cross-border procedures and strengthening regional coordination.
