More than 1,500 industrial enterprises established by members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan are currently operating in the country, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty held Wednesday in Ashgabat, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
According to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, established in 2008, has brought together nearly 30,000 members over 18 years. Private-sector enterprises produce plastic and metal products, construction materials, chemical products, carpets, electrical equipment, household goods, furniture and food products.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the electronics industry among the new areas of industrial development. Enterprises producing electronic equipment are being established in Turkmenistan as part of public-private partnerships. The development of the electronics industry is also aimed at diversifying the national economy and producing import-substituting products.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also addressed the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, emphasizing the importance of further increasing the role of the private sector. The Turkmen President said the development of small, medium-sized and large businesses would continue.
The Head of state highlighted the development of trade and the expansion of domestic production. According to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, measures are being taken to supply the domestic market with agricultural, food and other consumer goods produced by domestic manufacturers, with particular attention being paid to establishing new enterprises producing high-quality goods labeled “Made in Turkmenistan.”
Serdar Berdimuhamedov said a modern shopping center is currently under construction in Ashgabat and several new trade and service facilities will open in the capital this year. During the meeting, the importance of international exhibitions, conferences and business meetings in developing trade cooperation was also emphasized, and it was noted that Turkmenistan will participate in EXPO-2027 in Serbia with a national exhibition.
Following the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution approving the National Strategy for Industrial Development of Turkmenistan for 2030-2045, which sets the long-term directions for further development of the country’s industrial sector.
