Turkmenistan is implementing projects to modernize its oil and gas sector, develop fields and establish new production facilities in the chemical industry, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed during a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty held Wednesday in Ashgabat, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
According to the Head of state, one of the key tasks is to modernize the oil and gas sector using advanced achievements. The country is implementing major projects to extract, process and export hydrocarbon resources, as well as develop new fields. New facilities are being built as part of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries. At the same time, measures are being taken to modernize the Seydi Oil Refinery.
The phased development of the Galkynysh gas field is continuing. This year, the fourth phase of its development was launched with the construction of a modern plant with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of marketable gas. According to the President of Turkmenistan, the new facility will create more than 1,000 jobs.
Particular attention was paid to the chemical industry. A urea production complex is being built in Turkmenbashi district of Balkan province, while a mineral fertilizer production complex is being built as part of the chemical plant in Turkmenabat, Lebap province.
A complex for producing nitrogen fertilizers is planned to be built in Garashsyzlyk district of Dashoguz province. A new production facility for technical iodine and bromine, as well as carbon black, is planned as part of the Balkanabat iodine plant. A workshop for producing various types of salt is planned at the Guwlyduz enterprise.
The Head of state also announced a project for processing agricultural raw materials. This year, the foundation is planned to be laid for a plant in Dashoguz province designed to process 60,000 tons of technical cottonseed and produce vegetable oil.
According to the Turkmen state media, new projects are also being implemented in other sectors. A plant producing construction mixtures and gypsum board products is planned to be launched this year in Koytendag district of Lebap province. According to the President, the energy sector’s capacity will increase with the launch this year of a modern hybrid wind-solar power plant in Gyzylarbat district of Balkan province. At the same time, a combined-cycle power plant is being built at an accelerated pace in Turkmenbashi district of Balkan province.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted that measures are being taken in the country to establish new enterprises producing high-quality products labeled “Made in Turkmenistan.”
