A rally raid for the Cup of the Federation of Automobile Sport of Turkmenistan was held Sept. 19-20 in the Karakum Desert, marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, the Federation of Automobile Sport of Turkmenistan reported.
Participants competed over a 372-kilometer route from Ahal to Mary. Nine race cars representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Federation of Automobile of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Automobile Transport of Turkmenistan took part in the rally.
Maksat Danatarov and Rejepmuhammet Annamuhammedov took first place in a Nissan Patrol race car representing the Federation of Motorsports of Turkmenistan. Meylis Abdullaev and Bayram Annagulyev took second place, also driving a federation race car. Charyyar Charyyarov and Nurymyrat Hajymyradov finished third in a Toyota Hilux race car representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Rally raid competitions are regularly held in Turkmenistan. Earlier, on June 27-28, 2026, the Turkmenistan Championship was held in the Dashoguz and Ahal regions, with participants covering a total distance of 358 kilometers through the Karakum Desert.
