National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working visit around Ashgabat, familiarizing himself with preparations for festive events planned to mark the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, including celebrations to be organized in honor of Ahal-Teke horses, Turkmen state media reported Saturday.
During his visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov familiarized himself with the conditions created at the venues where the upcoming meeting of the International Ahal-Teke Equestrian Association and discussions on national horse breeding and the art of horse training will be held. The National Leader of the Turkmen people also noted that the necessary conditions should be provided to ensure the international events are held at a high organizational level.
Later, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with the participation of relevant officials.
The meeting discussed preparations for the upcoming events and issues included on the agenda of the 16th meeting of the International Ahal-Teke Equestrian Association. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev reported on preparations for celebrations, horse races and other events to be held during the festive days.
In addition, particular attention was paid to widely promoting Ahal-Teke horses in the mass media. Turkmenistan has also announced an interstate competition among CIS member states for television films titled “Bedew Bady: güýç hem gözellik."
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the need for joint work by the relevant structures to ensure the upcoming events and the interstate television film competition are held at a high organizational level. National Leader said it is important to intensify international cooperation in the equestrian sector and effectively use advanced international experience and the achievements of modern science.
