Turkmenistan is widely celebrating the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, with large-scale festive events being held across the country, including in Ashgabat and Arkadag. Among the celebrations, a ceremonial parade was held in Ashgabat on Sept. 27 in the presence of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmen state media reported.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, members of the government, leaders of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and sectoral management bodies, regional and Ashgabat city administrations, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan and foreign guests attended the ceremonial parade marking Independence Day.
The parade began with a march by units of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and other military and law enforcement agencies, along with military equipment. At the parade held on the square in front of the State Tribune complex, the defenders of the Motherland demonstrated a high level of professional skill. Various types of military equipment and weapons were also displayed.
Marking the 35th anniversary of independence, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the people of Turkmenistan. In his congratulatory message, the Head of state described independence as the unshakable foundation of national statehood and the people’s greatest source of pride. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that new cities and villages and impressive buildings are being constructed, while major programs for the future are being implemented.
In his message, the President said the anniversary was being celebrated in unity and solidarity, relying on the happiness and inspiring power of independence. The Head of state also noted that high labor performance is being achieved across all sectors of the national economy and that Turkmenistan’s economic independence and stability are being further strengthened.
As part of the celebrations marking the country’s independence anniversary, a festive concert by masters of culture and art of Turkmenistan was held Sept. 26 at the Mejlisler Merkezi in Ashgabat in the presence of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The concert featured the song “Bedew,” with lyrics by Hero-Arkadag. The song was accompanied by video footage depicting Turkmenistan’s achievements during the years of independence. Musical performances by Turkmenistan’s cultural figures were also presented. The song “Öňe, öňe, diňe öňe, jan Watanym Türkmenistan!” performed jointly by the participants became the final performance of the festive concert.
