Turkmen President Receives Daewoo E&C, Toyo Engineering Executives

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received executives of Daewoo E&C and Toyo Engineering, who arrived in Turkmenistan to attend celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence,  Turkmen state media reported Monday.

At the beginning of the meetings, the business executives thanked the President for taking the time to receive them and sincerely congratulated him on the country’s Independence Day. They also said the celebrations and Ashgabat’s appearance had made a strong impression on them.

During the meeting with Lee Kang-Sok, head of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated him on his appointment as the company’s president and expressed confidence that his visit to Turkmenistan would give new impetus to further developing bilateral relations.

The head of Daewoo E&C, in turn, spoke about Korean-Turkmen relations and highlighted the importance of Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s state visit to the Republic of Korea and his participation in the first Central Asia-Republic of Korea Summit held as part of the visit.

The meeting also noted that particular attention is being paid to the comprehensive development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, and that cooperation between the two countries has a long-term strategic character. It was also emphasized that Korean companies, which make a significant contribution to Korean-Turkmen economic relations, are actively participating in the implementation of major projects in Turkmenistan’s gas-chemical industry.

That day, Turkmen President also received Eiji Hosoini, president, chief executive officer and representative director of Japanese company Toyo Engineering Corporation. During the meeting, the Head of state noted that major Japanese companies have implemented projects in Turkmenistan’s gas and chemical industries over many years and emphasized the importance of the effective cooperation established with Toyo Engineering Corporation in this regard.

At the end of the meetings, Lee Kang-Sok and Eiji Hosoini once again expressed their gratitude for the favorable conditions created for effective work in Turkmenistan and confirmed their commitment to making every effort to further develop long-term cooperation.
