Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree awarding foreign citizens the honorary title of “Honored Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan,” Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
Under the decree, the honorary title was awarded to Marian Weltewredene, President of the European Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Association; Liu Shutsin, Chairman of Chinese horse-breeding company Daqing Huiyou Breeding Co., Ltd.; and Kaido Puusse, a private horse breeder and international-level veterinarian from Estonia.
The decree notes that their contributions to the development of horse breeding, services in preserving the purity of the Akhal-Teke breed and promoting its reputation worldwide, as well as their high achievements and professional skills, were taken into consideration.
Turkmenistan places great importance at the state level on the development of horse breeding and equestrian sports. Work is also underway to enhance the international reputation of Akhal-Teke horses, develop international cooperation in this field and promote mutually beneficial exchanges of experience.
The decree was signed in Ashgabat on Sept. 28, 2026.
