State Migration Service of Turkmenistan held a briefing on the introduction of the e-Visa system and an online registration system for foreign citizens, the service reported Wednesday.
Heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, Turkmen ambassadors and consuls abroad, as well as representatives of public organizations and the media attended the briefing. The event focused on the introduction of digital systems and the development of international cooperation in migration.
The e-Visa system was introduced in accordance with the Law on Migration. It allows foreign citizens and stateless persons to obtain electronic authorization to enter Turkmenistan. Electronic visas can be processed through the migration.gov.tm portal.
The service has also developed an online registration system for foreigners to record their stay in the country. Through the system, foreign citizens, as well as individuals and legal entities hosting them, can register foreigners online at rgstr.migration.gov.tm without visiting service offices in person. The briefing also covered the modernization of procedures for registering foreigners at their place of stay, extending their period of stay and deregistering them.
According to the service, the digital services will help foreigners save time, manage documents electronically and complete procedures more quickly and easily, while also increasing the efficiency of the agency’s work.
The briefing also highlighted Turkmenistan’s achievements in humanitarian law, including the successful implementation of the U.N.’s global #IBelong campaign. The service reported the program had helped eliminate statelessness in the country. It also emphasized Turkmenistan’s active cooperation with the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and other international organizations.
The event concluded with presentation videos and an exchange of views among participants.
