January-September: Turkmenistan’s Foreign Trade Turnover Rises 8.3%

Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover increased by 8.3% in January-September 2026 compared with the same period last year. Retail trade volume rose by 10.5% over the same period, Turkmenistan’s official media reported following Friday’s Cabinet of Ministers meeting, which reviewed the country’s work over the first nine months of the year.

According to a report by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.3% in January-September. The growth rate reached 3% in the industrial sector, 6.7% in construction, 10.4% in transport and communications, 8.4% in trade, 4.1% in agriculture and 8.4% in services.

Overall production increased by 9.9% in January-September compared with the same period in 2025. The revenue side of the state budget was executed at 100.1%, while expenditures reached 97.2%.

According to the report, salaries, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships at state institutions financed through the budget and self-financing were paid on time and in full. Capital investment financed from all sources increased by 3.5% compared with the same period last year.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the need to further improve the performance of the economic, financial and banking sectors. The head of state also instructed the deputy prime minister to take measures aimed at maintaining stable GDP growth and ensuring coordinated development of the sectors of the economy.
