A 500-kilovolt power transmission line from Turkmenistan to Kabul is expected to be completed within the next 10 months, TOLOnews reported, citing Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).

Afghanistan is developing four 500-kilovolt power transmission line projects with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Tajikistan. According to TOLOnews, the projects have capacities ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 megawatts. Work is currently underway on the projects with Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

According to former DABS chief Amanullah Ghalib, the 500-kilovolt power transmission line from Turkmenistan currently connects to Pul-e-Khumri.

DABS and Uzbek officials discussed accelerating the implementation of the 1,000-megawatt Surkhan-Dasht-i-Alwan power transmission line project. Projects for power lines with Iran and Tajikistan have also been reviewed, and discussions are ongoing, TOLOnews reported.
