Türkiye considers transporting Turkmen natural gas to Europe through its territory via the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline one of the strategic goals of energy cooperation with Turkmenistan, BOTAŞ Chairman and CEO Abdulvahit Fidan reported on Oct. 21 at the Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2026 (OGT 2026) international conference and exhibition in Ashgabat.

According to Fidan, gas producers, transportation companies and buyers need to agree on technical and commercial terms to implement the plan. He added that BOTAŞ is ready to apply its experience in natural gas supply, transportation and trade in cooperation with Turkmen partners and all relevant parties.

Fidan described the start of Turkmen gas supplies to Türkiye in 2025 as an important milestone in bilateral cooperation and a starting point for a broader partnership. He also recalled the ninth meeting of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Ashgabat in June, where both sides expressed their readiness to strengthen energy cooperation, according to Fidan.

According to Fidan ,the BOTAŞ trading network spans six continents. The Turkish state-owned company cooperates with more than 50 companies in 39 countries.
