A reception marking Kazakhstan’s Republic Day was held Oct. 24 at the Ýyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. Nokerguly Atagulyyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan; Nurlan Nogayev, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Turkmenistan; representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations; and members of the Kazakh community in Turkmenistan the event.
Speaking at the reception, Nogayev highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two countries and the development of Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of cooperation in trade, energy, industry, transport and logistics. He identified the development of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor, expanded cooperation between regions of the two countries and the use of Caspian Sea ports as promising areas for further collaboration.
Atagulyyev congratulated Kazakhstan on its national holiday on behalf of Turkmenistan’s leadership and people. He noted that relations between the two countries are based on traditions of good neighborliness, shared cultural ties and spiritual heritage.
According to Atagulyyev, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are consistently expanding cooperation in energy, industry, trade, transport, logistics and agriculture. He also highlighted the role of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Kazakhstan’s Republic Day is celebrated annually on Oct. 25. The holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan in 1990.
As part of the event, a photo exhibition dedicated to Kazakhstan was held featuring the country’s landmarks, achievements and cultural life. The festive atmosphere was complemented by a cultural program featuring national songs, musical performances and dance performances.
