Turkmenistan opened the 44-kilometer Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border road on Nov. 4. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov remotely launched the opening ceremony through a digital system, the Watan news program reported.

The new section is part of the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway, which forms part of the international North-South transport corridor. The road provides access to the state border with Kazakhstan and was built in accordance with international standards.

Turkmenistan’s official media previously reported that the groundbreaking ceremony for the 207-kilometer Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz highway was held in November 2025. Construction of this section of the highway is currently underway.

On the same day, Nov. 4, the president also attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the 546-kilometer Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway.
