For several years, Turkmenistan has been actively participating in the World EXPO. At the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, China, in 2012 in Yeosu, Korea, in 2015 in Milan, Italy, in 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, the achievement of Turkmenistan were presented to the international community. The pavilion of Turkmenistan, presented at the exposition in Astana, was among the ten most visited pavilions.

World EXPO 2020 will be held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The exposition will be held under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and Turkmenistan will participate with its pavilion.

To build the pavilion of Turkmenistan at the World EXPO 2020, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan announced the tender. The member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs – Tekmil Individual Enterprise was declared the winner of the tender. Founded in 2013, IE Tekmil is mainly engaged in design business.

Tekmil regularly participates in international competitions. The company won the international competition for the organization of large-scale event, held on the occasion of the XXV anniversary of Independence of Tajikistan. Tekmil is not the first time participating at the EXPO. The design project of the company was also used to decorate the pavilion of Turkmenistan at EXPO 2015, held in Milan, Italy.

1581 m2 of land was allocated for the pavilion of Turkmenistan. The exhibition building will be located on 976 m2 area.

Turkmenistan will showcase its heritage and modern achievements, alongside the country’s spiritual dimensions, development priorities, international ties and its progress towards the sustainable development goals.

A fountain sculpture featuring majestic Akhal-Teke horses will greet visitors to the Turkmenistan Pavilion, as will a 50-m LED façade depicting the nation’s natural and historical attractions. Guests will also be presented information and videos about Turkmenistan at the enterance. The second floor of the building is intended for the exposition of Turkmenistan. There will be exhibition stands for different spheres, a stage for different cultural events and fashion shows.

A six-month celebration, the Expo 2020 Dubai will welcome 192 countries and millions of visitors to the UAE starting from October 20 next year to April 10, 2021.
