The round table discussion on transport and logistics was successful, according to the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Alexander Yelizarov.

The meeting was held on Saturday in the framework of the first Caspian Economic Forum. It was attended by the official and business representatives of all five Caspian littoral states.

Talking to the press, the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation said that the main topic discussed at the round table was the freight transportation via North-South and West-East transport corridors.

“Innovative technologies were also discussed. Russian companies introduced the proposals on the use of the Platon system," he added. The Platon is a special system charging fees to freight transports.

Yelizarov hoped that this round table will not be the last event held in the framework of economic forums of this type.

“If states will support, we proposed to hold full-format forum with the participation of business and government agencies, as well as public and private ports, not limited with Caspian littoral states. Today, the limited number of businessmen attended as experts. Following years, we expect more of them to participate and interact with each other," Yelizarov said.
