The number of private enterprises, entrepreneurs, private households and business entities involved with the cultivation of vegetables and fruits reached 2,5 thousand, according to the Agricultural Department of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
A substantial increase in the volume of production of vegetables, melons and fodder crops can be observed on 70 thousand hectares of land allocated to agricultural producers for long-term use. On 8 thousand hectares of allocated land for gardens, private enterprises planted about 8 million fruit trees.
Since February, the enterprises planted elite sorts of peach, pear, apricot, cherry, almond trees on 1,6 hectares of land. Significantly increased area reserved for grapes. This year, they planted 5 million berry bushes, which is in high demand among consumers, on the berry plantations.
Agricultural enterprises, by skillfully combining agricultural innovations and the best traditions of land use, yield 150 to 200 tons of fruits and grapes per hectare.
