President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin adopted the Joint Statement on cooperation in the field of maintenance of international information security following the results of the bilateral talks in Ashgabat.
The leaders of the two states underlined in the document that “misuse of modern information-communication technologies, including with a view of, incompatible with problems of maintenance of international peace, safety and stability, can pose threat for the state, its citizens and society as a whole".
Heads of the neighboring states have urged the world community to take all necessary measures to prevent the use of information-communication technologies for intervention in internal affairs of sovereign states, for extremist purposes and for fulfillment of crimes, including the wrongful access to the computer information, with creation, use and distribution of harmful computer programs.
With regards to the trans-boundary nature of information-communication technologies, Presidents have expressed conviction that national measures on information security maintenance should be added by the consolidated actions at bilateral, multilateral, regional and global levels.
Presidents have expressed confidence of the further development of cooperation of the states on the basis of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of maintenance of international information security signed on April 5, 2019.
