Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Turkmenistan Hugh Stanley Philpott, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a Wednesday press release.
The diplomats discussed a wide range of issues regarding the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian interaction of the two countries. They also considered the possibility of expanding regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The parties especially focused on the constructive bilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations, primarily on the UN and OSCE venues.
The Turkmen side noted the focus on the effectiveness of cooperation and expressed its readiness to the Ambassador in supporting his activities to further develop bilateral relations.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received the British Ambassador on September 26. During the meeting, the diplomat assured the Head of State that he would comprehensively support further development of Turkmen – British dialog, traditionally friendly relations between two states and nations, as well as expansion of bilateral economic and business contacts.
