The joint Turkmen-Georgian commission on international road transport discussed statistics on trade turnover and volume of road transport between the two countries in Tbilisi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced Monday.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Communication of Turkmenistan heads the Turkmen delegation and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia heads the Georgian delegation in the joint commission’s second meeting.

The parties to the talks, taking into account a high growth rate in bilateral transport volumes, noted the increasing demand for additional authorization forms for international transit operations.

The Turkmen delegation will also participate in Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which will be held on October 22-23. The visit of Turkmen delegation to Georgia will continue until October 25.

In November 2017, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey signed an agreement on the creation of the Lapis Lazuli transport corridor which is set to connect the five countries.
