Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov visited Tashkent last week to participate in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of Governments of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Turkmenistan was invited as an honorary guest to the SCO session that took place on November 2 in the state residence Kuksaroy.
The participants discussed the prospective vectors of cooperation in trade-economic sphere paying special attention to the development of the investment climate on the SCO space.
In the framework of the visit, the Turkmen Foreign Minister held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The parties stated with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between the two countries.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai in June 2001. The organization’s headquarter is located in China’s capital, Beijing.
The main objectives of the SCO are to strengthen relations among member states, promote cooperation in political affairs, economics and trade, scientific-technical, cultural, and educational spheres as well as in energy, transportation, tourism, and environmental protection, safeguard regional peace, security, and stability; and create a democratic, equitable international political and economic order.
