Turkmen delegation led by the chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) Alexander Dadayev held a meeting with the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Turkmenistan Natalia Tamirisa and economists of the Fund’s Middle East and Central Asia Department on Friday.
Chairman of the board of Rysgal Joint-Stock Commercial Bank and heads of the relevant departments of the Union also attended the meeting held at the UIET headquarters in Ashgabat.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss capital investments in the development of the private sector, as well as issues of financing small and medium-sized businesses.
The participants noted the manufacturing activities of a number of enterprises, particularly of Derýaplastik, Parahat and Abadan Haly private enterprises for the production of food and industrial products that are competitive in the international markets.
Turkmenistan became a member of the IMF on September 22, 1992. According to IMF forecasts, the growth of Turkmenistan's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 will amount to 6.3%.
