Iran to Launch Free Economic Zone Near Turkmen Border
Inche Burun Free Economic Zone will be located next to the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway corridor.

Governor of the Iranian Golestan province Hadi Haqshenas said that at a session of the Iranian parliament a bill was passed on the creation of the Inche Burun Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Iran’s ISNA agency reports.

According to the Governor, the Inche Burun Free Economic Zone will be located next to the Turkmenistan-Iran border and will occupy an area of 12.5 thousand hectares.

Haqshenas said the proposed FEZ is located next to the railway border crossing Akyayla (Turkmenistan) – Inche Burun (Iran) and as a result of future changes it will be possible to use the opportunities of the Caspian Sea.

The Governor also informed about the tax remissions and other advantages of the FEZ, adding that, Inche Burun FEZ will be attractive for investments and will be a unique opportunity for the economic growth of the province.

Inche Burun Free Economic Zone will be located next to the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway corridor. Through the use of this railway, commissioned in December 2014, it is possible to connect to the Chinese railway system. Container train making China – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran test run launched in December 2017. The train passed Akyayla railway station and reached Tehran via Inche Burun in January 2018.
