The EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian arrived in Ashgabat on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the EU Representative held a meeting with the Hyakim (Governor) of the Ahal velayat Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During the talks, the parties noted the significance of cooperation of the EU with Turkmenistan from the geopolitical viewpoint.
The parties discussed collaboration in the economic and humanitarian spheres, including the partnership between the business circles of Turkmenistan and the EU. The sides confirmed the pleasant investment climate in Turkmenistan and noted the effectiveness of joint programmes and projects linked to various sectors of economy.
The officials stated the necessity of exchanging expertise in the area of agriculture, innovative technologies, protection of ecology and renewable energy sources.
The same day, Burian met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev. The parties noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU and discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to political-diplomatic dialogue, trade-economic ties, as well as to cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The Diplomats paid special attention to the cooperation in multilateral formats aimed at the maintenance of economic growth, stability and security in the region.
The Foreign Officials discussed the cooperation in the field of energy, enhancement of transit-transport routes, healthcare, ecology and education.
The parties stated the effectiveness of the projects and programmes implemented in Turkmenistan with assistance of the European Commission.
