International conference at a level of transport ministers of the landlocked developing countries will take place in Turkmenistan in March, 2020.
At an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Communication, and the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations to organize the important event of the United Nations at a high organizational level, and to take necessary measures after the results of the forum for the practical implementation of its results.
During the meeting, Turkmen President signed a decree in order to implement foreign policy aimed at developing transport diplomacy and ensuring sustainable development by improving modern transport and transit corridors, as well as sequentially continuing activities carried out in this area with international organizations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Fekitamoeloa Katoa 'Utoikamanu on September 30 this year.
The High Representative supported the proposal to hold an international conference of landlocked developing country ministers in 2020, which will be one of the main stages in the development of the Ashgabat process, put forward during the First UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference in Ashgabat in 2016.
