Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing hosted on Wednesday a meeting between the SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to China Parahat Durdyyev.
Ambassador Durdyyev praised the diverse activities of the SCO and its cooperation with Turkmenistan. The Turkmen diplomat informed about the preparations for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
In this regard, Durdyyev handed to the SCO Secretary-General an invitation from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participate in the International Conference “The Policy of Neutrality and Its Importance in Ensuring International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development”, which is scheduled to take place in Ashgabat on December 11-12 this year.
In turn, V. Norov asked to convey to the President of Turkmenistan words of gratitude for the invitation, noting the active participation of Turkmenistan in international. Norov informed the Turkmen Ambassador about the activities of the SCO. The parties paid special attention to the further development of cooperation within the SCO in the field of innovation, digitalization, and electronic commerce.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in Shanghai in June 2001. The organization’s headquarter is located in China’s capital, Beijing. The main objectives of the SCO are to strengthen relations among member states, promote cooperation in political affairs, economics and trade, scientific-technical, cultural, and educational spheres as well as in energy, transportation, tourism, and environmental protection, safeguard regional peace, security, and stability; and create a democratic, equitable international political and economic order.
