Turkmenistan to Plant 10 Million Trees in 2020
10 million trees will be planted in Turkmenistan this year.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree on Friday “On Planting Trees in Turkmenistan in 2020”. The resolution provides for the implementation of a nationwide greening program in the country, primarily in terms of the country's environmental sustainability.

According to the Decree, Ministries and sectoral departments, and Ashgabat Hakimlik (Administration) are assigned to plant 5 million seedlings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grapes between the Ak Bugday and the Baherden etraps of Ahal velayat.

The Hakimliks of the velayats were also entrusted to ensure the planting of 5 million seedlings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grapes on the territory of the velayats.

Ministries, sectoral departments, Hakimliks of velayats and Ashgabat are assigned to ensure the planting of seedlings of fruit trees and grapes by varieties on separately allocated land plots and ensure their watering using drip irrigation system.

Turkmen President also assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection to provide sufficient quantities of grape seedlings and three-year-old seedlings of trees, as well as to monitor their planting and growing.
