Digitalization in Turkmenistan has led to an increase in number of online services in the country. At the same time, the number of users of online services has also increased.

One of the main criteria for assessing the level of digitalization is the quantitative data on cashless payments. Today, in addition to the usual non-cash payments via bank cards, the system of payments through electronic wallets and payments using mobile applications is developing rapidly.

One of the main reasons for the growth of non-cash payments is the development of remote services and mobile applications, including in banking, which allows to remotely perform various operations.

The volume of non-cash transactions has also increased due to the rise of payments via QR codes.

For the transactions via mobile applications, both the buyer and the seller do not need to use additional terminals, as payments can be made from anywhere.

Over the past two years alone, projects have been carried out to digitize passenger services of the Türkmenhowaýollary and Türkmendemirýollary agencies. Agencies' mobile applications made it possible to remotely purchase tickets.

From the launch date of the application to December 2019, the online sale of railway tickets increased by 4.8 times, and the amount of cashless payments by 4.3 times. Such increase can also be observed in the application of the Türkmenhowaýollary agency.

The payments for communication services have been fully digitized in the country. The application of the АŞTU Closed Joint-Stock Company allows consumers to pay for communication services such as telephone, IP-TV, and Internet. During the 2019, the number of transactions via the АŞTU application increased almost 2 times, and the amount of online payments increased 2.5 times.

Altyn Asyr CJSC has also launched a similar application. Over the same period, the number of transactions via the Altyn Asyr mobile application increased by 3.6 times, and the amount of payments by 4.5 times.

Today, residents of Turkmenistan can use wide range of services using mobile applications. For example, order food and other necessary products using applications such as Altyn Açar, Menu, or Dostawka.bar. Consumers can also purchase a suitable car and various equipment using the popular Tmcars and Saraý applications in our country.

Taxi Hyzmaty application has also firmly entrenched in the local market, with the help of which it is easy to order a taxi and see how much the route will cost.
